THE National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) is analyzing the fingerprints of Victor Dueñas, who was apprehended for his alleged role in the 2007 murder of Ruby Rose Barrameda.

On Wednesday, the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit submitted Dueñas’ fingerprints to the NBI to determine if he is, in fact, Lope Jimenez, as alleged by former actress and beauty queen Rochelle Barrameda, Ruby Rose’s sister.

Barrameda, who has been fighting for justice for nearly two decades, believes Dueñas and Jimenez are the same person.

She sought the NBI’s assistance to verify her claim through fingerprint analysis.

According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, the bureau’s Dactyloscopy Division is handling the examination, with results expected within 48 hours.

Barrameda expressed hope that the analysis would confirm her suspicion, potentially providing a breakthrough in linking Dueñas to Jimenez and advancing the case.

Ruby Rose disappeared in 2007, and her body was discovered in 2009, encased in concrete and submerged off the coast of Navotas.

Dueñas was arrested on January 5 in Quezon City, allegedly while paying accomplices in a separate kidnapping and murder case involving a businessman found buried in Bulacan.

He has denied being Jimenez.
