THE National Bureau of Investigation’s (NBI) Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (IADITG) discovered illegal drugs hidden in 21 parcels at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City.

The parcels were declared to contain tea, wiring harnesses, clothing, books, and skincare products.

Upon inspection, authorities seized more than 7,000 grams of kush (high-grade marijuana) and over 1,200 ecstasy tablets, with an estimated street value of nearly P13 million.

“These parcels went through an x-ray scan, and when we noticed irregularities, we subjected them to K9 inspection. After that, the NBI conducted a thorough examination, which confirmed the presence of suspected drugs,” said Arvin Targa, Public Information Officer of PDEA Region 4.

Authorities have yet to disclose the countries of origin for the parcels but are coordinating with foreign counterparts for the ongoing investigation.

The follow-up operation includes verifying the consignee details and addresses listed on the parcels.

“We will verify the existence of the individuals and the provided addresses. Our goal is to file a case against them under R.A. 9165,” Targa added.
