Colonel found dead at Camp Aguinaldo — AFP

A military lawyer was found dead inside his quarters at Camp Aguinaldo in Quezon City on November 22, according to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

In a statement on Sunday, the AFP identified the deceased as Colonel Rolando C. Escalona Jr., a member of the Judge Advocate General’s Service (JAGS).

AFP Spokesperson, Col. Francel Margareth Padilla, stated that Escalona served as the Legal Counsel for the Armed Forces under the Judge Advocate General’s Service.

In connection with this, Padilla confirmed that the AFP sought the assistance of the Philippine National Police-Scene of the Crime Operatives (PNP-SOCO) to investigate the incident.

The AFP expressed commitment to a complete and impartial investigation into the incident.

Along with the mourning, the leadership of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) also extended their condolences to the family of the late Col. Rolando Escalona Jr.

In a separate interview, Padilla confirmed that a gunshot wound was found on Escalona’s body when he was discovered.
