The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has released guidelines for proper holiday pay during the upcoming Undas holidays on November 1 and 2, and Bonifacio Day on November 30.

In an advisory, DOLE reminded employers and employees that November 1 (All Saints’ Day) and November 2 (All Souls’ Day) are special non-working holidays, meaning a ‘no work, no pay’ rule applies.

For those reporting to work on these days, employees are entitled to their regular daily wage plus an additional 30%. Overtime work will be compensated with an extra 30% of the hourly rate.

Employees working on special holidays that fall on their rest day will receive an additional 50% of their regular daily wage for the first 8 hours and an extra 30% of their hourly rate for overtime.

For Bonifacio Day, a regular holiday, employees who do not report for work are still entitled to their full daily wage if they work the next day or are on leave with pay.

Employees who work on the regular holiday will receive double pay and an additional 30% of their hourly rate for overtime work.
