Former VP Leni Robredo Files Candidacy for Naga City Mayor

Aims to Continue Jesse Robredo’s Legacy

Former Vice President and lawyer Leni Robredo officially filed her candidacy for mayor of Naga City today.

Robredo was accompanied by her daughters Aika and Jillian, as well as her full Team Naga lineup, who simultaneously filed their candidacies.

Speaking to the media, Robredo said she had decided to run for Naga City mayor as early as June or July.

She highlighted her experience in both legislative and executive positions as a key factor in her decision.

Robredo explained that her passion for community work aligns with the responsibilities of a mayor, emphasizing the importance of city service.

She arrived at the Comelec-Naga office at exactly 10 AM and concluded the filing process by 10:45 AM.

Robredo was warmly greeted by her supporters, who patiently waited to see her and exchange pleasantries.

Yesterday, Robredo officially declared her candidacy for mayor, running under the Liberal Party alongside Team Naga.

Robredo has traditionally filed her candidacy on October 5, a date significant to her personal and political journey.

On October 5, 2012, just after her husband, former DILG Secretary Jesse Robredo, passed away, she made a last-minute decision to run for Congress.

Similarly, on October 5, 2015, she filed her candidacy for vice president and successfully won the position.

Jesse Robredo, in 1988, became the youngest mayor in the Philippines at the age of 29 and left a mark on Naga City with his legacy of good governance.

Leni Robredo aims to continue her late husband’s work for the development of Naga City and to further contribute to the country.
