TACLOBAN CITY – A mason tragically took his own life after falling into deep distress following his arrest by the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Coworkers revealed that the victim had been using his brand-new motorcycle daily to travel from Burauen, Leyte to Tacloban City.

However, during a routine LTO checkpoint in Palo, Leyte, his motorcycle was flagged and impounded due to missing documentation, as it was still new and unregistered.

The cost to recover the impounded vehicle reportedly reached ₱18,000, which was higher than the down payment and monthly installments the victim was paying, further adding to his distress.

Authorities from SOCO conducted an investigation and ruled out foul play, confirming the incident as a suicide.
