Britney Spears’ sons have “forgiven” grandfather Jamie Spears, after taking out a restraining order against him five years ago.

Sean Preston, 18, and Jayden James, 17, spent many years having no contact with their maternal grandfather, after he was accused of becoming physically violent with Sean when he was 13.

Jamie, who is Britney’s father, allegedly broke down a door to get to the teenager during a fight and grabbed hold of him.

The now 72-year-old wasn’t charged over the incident, but a restraining order was put in place.

At the time, their father Kevin Federline’s lawyer confirmed, “It was not Kevin’s desire to see Jamie Spears be prosecuted.”

Now, the boys are keen to re-start contact with their grandfather.

“The boys miss their grandfather,” Kevin’s lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, told Page Six. “They have forgiven him.”

The restraining order has now “expired on its own terms,” and Kaplan has confirmed “there’s no restraint between Jamie communicating with them or them communicating with Jamie.”

Kaplan confirmed the two young men “have been speaking with (Jamie)”, and the boys reportedly have plans to visit their grandfather in Louisiana, according to TMZ.

While Kaplan didn’t confirm the trip, he said that Federline would not “oppose” the visit and that he is “supportive” of his sons reconciling with their grandfather.

Although it’s not known what brought about the reconciliation, it’s believed it may be related to Jamie’s health. He had his leg leg amputated in November 2023 after a knee replacement caused him to get a “terrible infection,” and is now wheelchair-bound.

It’s also believed Sean and Jayden are on speaking terms with their mum Britney, after being estranged from her for several years.

Last August, Kaplan confirmed the teenagers had “communicated” with their mum “probably a few weeks ago.”
