9-Year-Old Found Dead After Being Carried by Strong River Currents

A 9-year-old girl was found lifeless after being swept away by strong river currents in Sitio Villa Ellaga, Barangay Colungulo, Surallah, South Cotabato.

The victim, identified as Nicole Pensoy, was a resident of the said town.

According to reports, she was carried away by the river at Sitio Villa Ellaga and was later found in Sitio Asparagus of the same barangay.

Rescue teams from the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRMMO) and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of Surallah responded immediately to retrieve the child’s body, which was caught among trees along the riverbank.

The family of the victim is currently in deep grief over the tragic loss.
