Stepfather Kills 14-Year-Old Girl, Buries Body in Vacant Lot

A 14-year-old girl raped and murdered in Panabo City, Davao del Norte, was found buried in a pit in Barangay Little Panay on March 1, 2025.

Police investigations confirmed that the victim was sexually assaulted before being killed by the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Mark Paltinca Bernabe, a resident of Barangay San Francisco, Panabo City.

The Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office identified the victim as Ashley Callo Borrasca, 14, who lived in the same barangay.

According to reports, her father, Gerry Borrasca, reported her missing to the police on February 28, 2025.

Authorities launched a search operation, which led them to the suspect’s property, where the victim’s lifeless body was discovered buried in a pit.

Evidence showed that Bernabe was the last person seen with the victim before her disappearance.

Following an interrogation, he was arrested in a follow-up police operation.

Bernabe is currently in police custody while investigations continue.

Authorities assured the public that they are determined to deliver justice for the victim and her family.
