Velasco explained that these lawmakers were unable to attend the initial oath-taking and verification process due to other commitments.

However, they submitted their verifications to the House to formalize their support for the impeachment proceedings.

If the Senate Impeachment Court allows their inclusion, the total number of signatories will reach 240, representing nearly 80 percent of the 306-member House of Representatives.

A conviction in the impeachment trial would result in VP Duterte’s removal from office and a lifetime ban from holding any government position.
