An 18-year-old mother in Agusan del Sur allegedly threw her newborn near a bathroom in Sitio Aurora, Barangay Johnson, out of fear of her family discovering her incestuous pregnancy.

Loreto Police Chief Captain Jomar Gacosta clarified that the young mother was impregnated by her first cousin, which caused her fear and distress about her parents’ reaction.

Authorities revealed that the infant died after being struck on the head when the mother’s father threw a knife toward the source of crying, unaware it was the baby.

During police interrogation, the suspect admitted she had no intention of keeping the baby, driven by fear of her family’s reaction to the situation.

The suspect’s mother expressed regret, saying the tragedy could have been avoided if they had known about the pregnancy earlier.

Purok Chairman JunJun Pastor, who initially attempted to assist the infant, said the situation shocked the community, as no one claimed the baby during initial inquiries.
