₱30 Million Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes Seized in Davao del Norte

DAVAO DEL NORTE – Smuggled cigarettes worth an estimated ₱30 million were confiscated by the Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) in the Island Garden City of Samal.

According to Reynante Villela, Public Affairs Officer of NFEM, the authorities seized over 800 cartons of cigarettes at around 9:30 PM on September 23.

It was revealed that the intercepted boat carrying the smuggled cigarettes had 11 individuals onboard, all of whom were identified as Tausug residents from Basilan, including the boat owner.

Authorities are expected to file charges against those involved in the smuggling operation.
