Authorities seized 20 kilograms of suspected shabu worth ₱136 million in a buy-bust operation at South China Sea Green Valley Subdivision, Barangay Dontogan, Baguio City at around 11:00 AM today.
The operation was conducted by personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Philippine National Police (PNP), leading to the arrest of four suspects.
Among those apprehended was a 45-year-old Police Executive Master Sergeant, a member of the Baguio City Police Office, and a resident of the area.
Also arrested were a 49-year-old female sales master from Dontogan, Baguio City, a 38-year-old tattoo artist from Valenzuela City, and a 37-year-old mechanic from San Juan, Agoo, La Union.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Derrick Arnold C. Carreon, Regional Director of PDEA-Cordillera, stated that the suspects were high-value drug personalities who had been under surveillance for a long time.
Meanwhile, PBGen. David Peredo Jr., Regional Director of PROCOR, expressed his disappointment that one of the suspects was a fellow police officer.
However, he also emphasized his satisfaction that those involved in illegal drug activities were arrested.
The suspects will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
