A young Thai singer, Phing Chyada from Udon Thani, tragically passed away after undergoing neck-twisting massage sessions, which resulted in a herniated disc in her spine.
Two days after the sessions, she began experiencing pain in her neck, which worsened over time.
Before her death, Chyada had posted on Facebook, explaining that instead of relieving the pain in her shoulders after the massage, it intensified and spread to her neck.
Shocked by her death, Thailand was shaken, and doctors issued a warning against neck-twisting massages.
According to Chyada’s mother, her daughter had been suffering from shoulder pain for several months. Rather than seeking medical attention, Chyada chose to visit a local massage studio.
After taking painkillers that didn’t help, she returned to the neck-twisting sessions. Over two weeks, the pain in her neck worsened, making it difficult for her to lie down.
Despite the growing discomfort, she went back for a third massage, which was even more intense, causing bruises that lingered for a week.
Eventually, Chyada began experiencing numbness in her chest and right leg and soon lost feeling in the entire right side of her body.
Chyada’s condition deteriorated, and she fell into a coma. Doctors revealed that she had suffered a severe herniated disc, and unfortunately, there was nothing they could do to save her.
Her death has raised concerns about the safety of certain massage practices in Thailand.
