A woman was shot and killed inside her home in Butuan City, possibly by former associates from a rebel group, last night.

According to PCaptain Charles Evan Gatchalian, station commander of Butuan City Police Station 4, the victim was identified as 51-year-old Alma Nalugon Pajaron, a farmer and resident of Purok 2, Brgy. Anticala.

Reports indicate that Pajaron was preparing dinner after returning from the market when she was shot multiple times through the kitchen window.

She was rushed to Butuan Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Authorities believe the motive may be linked to Pajaron’s decision to leave a rebel group and return to civilian life, as she had no known enemies in the community.

Meanwhile, authorities are continuing their investigation into the recent shooting of a female business owner in Remedios T. Romualdez (RTR), Agusan del Norte, which occurred on Sunday afternoon.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Belen Estorya Dugas, a resident of Purok 6, Brgy. Tagbungabong, was gunned down while working at their piggery farm.

According to the initial investigation led by PCaptain Joel Ablan, officer-in-charge of RTR Municipal Police Station, two men on a motorcycle approached Dugas, asking if they had any pigs for sale before shooting her in both legs.

Despite her attempt to flee, Dugas collapsed, and her husband, Teofilo Dugas, tried to help, but he was threatened by one of the gunmen and told not to interfere as they continued shooting the victim, resulting in her death.

Police recovered seven .45 caliber bullet casings from the scene, and investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and identify the suspects.
