Vice President Sara Duterte has informed Manila Representative Joel Chua, chairman of the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability, that she will not attend today’s hearing.

In a letter addressed to Chua, the Vice President stated that the hearing is based on unfounded allegations stemming from the privilege speech of Manila Representative Rolando Valeriano.

VP Duterte emphasized that the allegations could be verified and validated through the accomplishment reports submitted by the Office of the Vice President (OVP) in support of their proposed 2025 budget.

She argued that there is no need for further hearings on this matter.

Additionally, the Vice President expressed concerns that the Committee’s invitation lacks clear legislative objectives and infringes on the rights, privacy, and dignity of individuals participating in the proceedings.

During the Committee’s initial hearing, VP Duterte declined to take an oath, asserting her role as a resource person rather than a witness.
