Two Students Injured in Resto Bar Shooting, Suspect Surrenders to Police

Two students injured in shooting at a resto bar in Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga, were rushed to the hospital after being attacked by an armed suspect.

According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Medie Lapangan Jr., Chief of the Kalinga Police Provincial Office PCADU, the victims were identified as 21-year-old Keith Oplay Chaclag and 20-year-old Earl Dave Bagtang Andomang, both students and residents of Mallango, Tinglayan, Kalinga.

Prior to the incident, the victims had been drinking with friends at a resto bar.

At around 2:00 AM, as they were heading home with a female companion, they were followed and harassed by the suspects while attempting to board their motorcycle.

The suspects pursued them, and the back rider suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire.

Both victims sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to Kalinga Provincial Hospital in a private vehicle.

One victim was later transferred to San Juan General Hospital, while the other was brought to Divine Mercy Hospital in Tuguegarao City.

The suspect, identified as Happy Dudol of the Basao tribe, an active CAFGU member and back rider of Flores Palad, voluntarily surrendered after the shooting.

Authorities have filed a case of Frustrated Homicide against the suspect, who is now in police custody.
