In an exclusive interview with Star FM Cebu, PLt Col Joeson Parallag, Chief of the Bayawan City Police Station, confirmed that the victims, a 15-year-old girl and her 13-year-old brother, were walking home when the older sister slipped and accidentally touched the low-hanging live wire.

In an attempt to help his sister, the younger brother pulled her away, but unfortunately, both were electrocuted and lost consciousness.

The siblings were rushed to the nearest hospital but were declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine accountability, as the Negros Oriental II Electric Cooperative (NORECO) was reportedly informed about the issue but may not have taken immediate action.

Parallag urged the public to stay vigilant, report similar hazards to the proper authorities, and install warning signs to prevent similar tragedies.
