Former Senator Antonio ‘Sonny’ Trillanes has called for the removal of Vice President Sara Duterte from office following her recent conduct during the House hearing on the proposed budget for the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

In an online post, Trillanes stated that the spending of the P125 million in confidential funds by the Vice President is not the only impeachable offense.

He also accused Duterte of bribery and corruption for allegedly receiving two checks totaling P14.4 million from former economic adviser to former President Rodrigo Duterte, Michael Yang, while she was serving as the mayor of Davao City.

It can be recalled that during the hearing on the proposed OVP budget for 2025, VP Sara Duterte remained firm in her stance not to answer questions regarding the spending of P125 million in confidential funds within 11 days.

Duterte claimed that the allegations were unrelated to the discussion of the OVP’s budget for the coming year.

Meanwhile, Trillanes had already expressed his opinion on the matter earlier on Tuesday, August 27, stating that he believes it is time for lawmakers to collectively move towards removing Duterte from her position.
