Tricycle Driver Dies in Collision with Trailer Truck on Cauayan City Highway

A tricycle driver died following a collision with a trailer truck along National Highway Cabatuan Road in San Fermin, Cauayan City.

According to information from the Cauayan City Police Station, the deceased was identified as Jun Baddungon, 42, while the tricycle passenger, Marcelo Baddungon, 44, suffered injuries.

The trailer truck driver was identified as John Michael Maderia, 35, a resident of Brgy. Nicolas Agatep, Lasam, Cagayan.

Initial police investigation revealed that the tricycle was headed towards Cauayan City Proper while the trailer truck was en route to Luna, Isabela.

The collision occurred when the tricycle attempted to overtake another tricycle and was struck by the oncoming trailer truck during the maneuver.

Jun Baddungon sustained a fatal head injury, while the passenger suffered injuries to various parts of the body.

Both were rushed to the hospital, but the driver was declared dead on arrival.

Authorities are currently awaiting further discussions between both parties regarding the filing of charges.
