Top NPA leader killed in Bulacan Clash — Army

THE Philippine Army has confirmed that a high-ranking leader of the New People’s Army (NPA) was killed in an armed clash in Sitio Balagbag, Barangay San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan, on October 17, 2025.

Army officials said the firefight broke out after combined elements of the 80th Infantry Battalion (2nd Infantry Division) and the 70th Infantry Battalion (7th Infantry Division) launched an operation based on verified intelligence reports on the presence of armed insurgents in the area.

The encounter led to the death of Jordan Mopon, also known as “Boyong,” a notorious NPA leader allegedly involved in extortion and terror-related activities across the CALABARZON region.

Recovered from the site were an M14 rifle, eight jungle packs, three sacks of assorted food supplies, and several subversive documents. Pursuit operations are ongoing to locate Mopon’s remaining followers.

The Jungle Fighter Division assured that intensified security operations will continue to suppress communist insurgency and promote peace and development in affected localities.
