Three men were rescued after their boat capsized near Palattao Bridge in Barangay 2, Enrile, Cagayan on Saturday.

According to Mayor Miguel Decena Jr., the men—who are relatives—attempted to cross the river to salvage their harvested corn that had been affected by flooding.

Despite warnings from local watchmen due to strong water currents, the group insisted on crossing.

Mayor Decena noted that one possible cause of the capsizing was the boat being overloaded with corn.

Responders from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) quickly arrived to rescue the victims.

Two of the men sustained minor injuries and were immediately treated by frontline responders.
