Three Dead, One Injured in Tricycle and Fuel Tanker Collision in Banate, Iloilo

Three people were killed, and one person injured in a collision between a tricycle and a fuel tanker in Barangay Carmelo, Banate, Iloilo.

The victims who lost their lives have been identified as tricycle driver Ariane Bactung San Miguel, 26, along with passengers Rodolfo Baldevarona Bachar, 62, and Rosana Paclibar Barba, 36.

The driver’s younger sibling, Armefer Bactung San Miguel, 22, was injured but has since been released from the hospital; all victims are residents of Barangay De La Paz, Banate, Iloilo.

The fuel tanker driver, Joecie Aguilar Biana, 46, a resident of Barangay San Lucas, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo, survived the incident.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Master Sergeant Jhan Baylon, investigator from Banate Municipal Police Station, said the tricycle driver was on his way to drop his younger sibling at the terminal, along with two additional passengers.

The fuel tanker was traveling from Barotac Viejo, delivering fuel to Passi City when the tricycle, attempting to overtake another motorcycle, collided head-on with the tanker.

The force of the impact caused the tricycle to split from its sidecar, leading to the tragic deaths of three occupants.

Currently, the fuel tanker driver is in the custody of Banate PNP as the families of the tricycle passengers deliberate on their next course of action.
