According to their father, Armando Balagat, his children had gone out that day to collect beans and sayote to bring as provisions for a sports competition.

The victims regularly used a motorcycle for travel since their school was far from their home in Barangay Munguia, and there was no public transportation in the area.

The accident occurred while they were on their way back to school.

According to a report from the Dupax del Norte police, the motorcycle and a van collided after the van suddenly swerved into their lane.

The van should have veered to the left to avoid the crash.

After the accident, the van driver briefly stopped but fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

The victims were rushed to the hospital but succumbed to severe head and body injuries.

Their grieving father pleaded for the van driver to surrender and face justice, as his children had dreams of becoming police officers one day.
