Teacher Fatally Shot by Student Over Failing Grade

A tragic incident unfolded at Balabagan Trade School in Barangay Narra, Lanao del Sur, where a Grade 11 student fatally shot his teacher over a failing grade.

The victim, identified as 34-year-old Danilo Barba, was reportedly shot in the head by 20-year-old alias Kaizer, who admitted to the crime out of anger after being failed in a subject.

According to Balabagan Municipal Police Station, the shooting occurred at around 8:00 a.m. on August 4, 2025, as Barba was entering the school campus.

The suspect intercepted the teacher and fired a .45 caliber pistol, resulting in Barba’s immediate death.

Following the incident, the student fled and hid with relatives in Marogong but surrendered to authorities the next day with the help of his brother, a police officer.

Investigators revealed that other teachers had also failed the student, but he claimed Barba was the only one he held a grudge against.

Police and military personnel have since been deployed to secure the school and prevent further threats.bb
