Son Accidentally Shoots Mother During an Altercation

A mother was accidentally shot by her son during an altercation in Sitio Lunok, Cubay, Jaro, Iloilo City.

The victim, identified as Meryl, 59, was injured by her son Darwin, 36, both residents of the area.

Police Major Eduardo Siacon Jr., chief of Police Station 9, stated that the incident occurred after Darwin encountered two siblings, Elorde and Denard, with whom he had an ongoing dispute.

Darwin returned home to retrieve a firearm before heading back to confront the siblings.

As Darwin confronted the two, his mother followed to mediate and stop him.

During the confrontation, the firearm accidentally discharged, striking the victim in the arm and leg.

Police are currently searching for Darwin, who fled the scene, and the firearm used in the incident has yet to be recovered.

The mother remains hospitalized and is undergoing treatment for her injuries.
