Siphoning Operations on Sunken MT Terra Nova Halted Due to Typhoon Enteng Threat

Siphoning operations on the oil cargo of the sunken MT Terra Nova in Manila Bay were temporarily halted today due to the threat posed by Typhoon Enteng.

The Philippine Coast Guard ordered the suspension to prevent risks to the lives of those conducting the siphoning operations.

The contracted salvor team, Harbor Star, promptly complied and ensured that the siphoning lines, containment equipment, and other materials were secured.

The transfer of recovered oil waste from the sunken tanker was also temporarily suspended.

According to the latest report from the Philippine Coast Guard, a total of 1,254,889 liters of oil waste has been recovered from the sunken tanker, with the salvor team surpassing their daily target of 200,000 liters, achieving 222,332 liters yesterday.

As of yesterday, the salvor team had successfully transferred a total of 698,000 liters of oil waste to a waste management facility in Marilao, Bulacan, for proper disposal.

In addition to the operations on MT Terra Nova, the salvor team FES Challenger also suspended its operations on MTKR Jason Bradley due to the threat posed by Typhoon Enteng.
