Senior Citizen Dies After Being Hit by Police Officer’s Motorcycle

A senior citizen died after being hit by a motorcycle driven by a police officer in Sitio Laguerta, Barangay San Isidro, Dumalneg, Laoag City.

According to P/Capt. Junjun Medina, Chief of Dumalneg Municipal Police Station, the victim was identified as Julieta Aguda y Ramos, 69, a resident of Barangay San Isidro in the said town.

The motorcycle driver was identified as P/Cpl. Michael Suniga y Garcia, 34, a police officer assigned to Dumalneg Municipal Police Station and also a resident of Barangay San Isidro.

Based on the investigation, P/Cpl. Suniga immediately sought help to bring the victim to Bangui District Hospital after the accident.

The incident occurred at around 6:00 p.m. while Suniga was driving his Honda ADV 150 and heading west when he saw the victim on the side of the road.

After honking his horn, the victim allegedly made an unexpected movement, causing the collision with the motorcycle.

The victim sustained severe head injuries, while Suniga was unharmed in the accident.

The victim was declared dead at around 7:44 p.m. by the attending physician, Dr. Rosana Garvida.
