Salon Owner Shot Dead; Police Identify Suspects

Authorities have identified two suspects involved in the fatal shooting of a salon owner on Daproza Street, General Santos City, on the evening of Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

Pendatun Police Station Commander PCpt. Cyrus Vince Arro confirmed the identification but withheld the suspects’ names pending further investigation and ongoing hot pursuit operations.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Renante Tampus, a resident of Uhaw, Brgy. Fatima, in General Santos City.

According to police reports, one suspect entered the salon, drew a firearm, and shot the victim. CCTV footage revealed that the suspect went in and out of the salon multiple times, seemingly ensuring he could hit the target.

After the shooting, the gunman fled the scene on a motorcycle driven by an accomplice who served as a lookout.

The victim was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Initial investigations suggest a personal grudge as the motive behind the killing. The victim’s partner disclosed that Tampus had received multiple death threats from former business associates.

Police continue to pursue the suspects to apprehend them and file appropriate charges.
