Retired Army Officer Faces Charges for Allegedly Killing Son

A 25-year-old man died after allegedly being shot by his own father in Barangay San Guillermo, San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte.

According to the victim’s sibling, the incident occurred when the father, identified as retired Philippine Army officer Mr. Fermin Cabbat, came home intoxicated and began destroying household items belonging to his wife.

The victim reportedly tried to calm his father but later retreated to his room, unaware that his father had retrieved a firearm.

The father allegedly entered the victim’s room and shot him twice, inflicting severe injuries.

The victim was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his wounds despite efforts to save him.

The suspect, a retired Philippine Army officer who retired in 2010, reportedly admitted that he had been emotionally troubled due to late-night arguments with his son.

Authorities swiftly apprehended the suspect and are conducting an in-depth investigation into the incident.
