Radio program host and station manager Erwin “Boy Pana” Segovia of Radyo Gugma was fatally shot early morning while riding his motorcycle in Barangay Mangangoy, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.

According to Bislig City Police, Segovia had just left the radio station after airing his morning show when an unidentified assailant shot him.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the motive and identify the perpetrator.

Former Cantilan Mayor Carla Lopez Pichay, who ran and lost in the congressional race against former governor Alexander Pimentel, offered a ₱1 million reward for information leading to the arrest of Segovia’s killer.

Segovia had served as a block time radio host supporting Pichay during her midterm election campaign earlier this year.

Pichay also challenged incumbent provincial officials, including Pimentel, 1st District Rep. Romeo Momo, and Governor Johnny Pimentel, to uphold justice and ensure swift accountability in Segovia’s murder.

She called on the Diocese of Tandag to join her appeal for justice for those killed due to political reasons.

Known for his outspoken commentaries, Segovia’s final broadcast focused solely on the Mangagoy patronal fiesta and made no political remarks before his death.
