An animal rights group in South Korea rescued a dog after his family, who cared for him, died in the Jeju plane crash.
The dog was identified as Pudding, who was left alone in a house in Yeonggwang County in South Jeolla province.
When the plane crashed on Sunday, December 29, the victims included the dog’s 79-year-old owner. His wife, two daughters, a son-in-law, and four grandchildren also died in the tragedy.
According to the group Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth (CARE), the family had traveled to Thailand, but due to the incident, they never returned.
Pudding was found wandering around his family’s house. He would often watch passing cars.
Kind neighbors fed him until the animal rights group took him and had him checked at a veterinary hospital in Seoul.
“They never returned, and the empty house they left behind was haunted by their five-year-old granddaughter‘s pet dog, Pudding. Pudding would stare at every car that drove into town, and the locals would feed her out of sympathy for the loss of her family,” CARE said.
The organization also announced that they would care for Pudding until a new guardian can be found to take and care for him.
“After determining that Pudding was in danger roaming the town without a guardian, Animal Rights Organization Care rescued Pudding. Care will keep Pudding until a suitable guardian can be found. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this tragedy,” the post added.
