President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has instructed concerned agencies to begin early water releases from dams to avoid overflows that could impact nearby communities.
During a situation briefing at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), the President emphasized the need for careful planning.
He urged the implementation of a measured response, where water should be released even before reaching high water levels.
According to President Marcos, early water release is essential to create “breathing room” before heavy rains hit.
He also stressed that the released water should not cause damage or widespread flooding.
In a briefing held at the Office of the Civil Defense, President Marcos directed government agencies to ensure immediate assistance to communities affected by Typhoon Kristine.
