President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has expressed his willingness to reconcile with the Duterte family, emphasizing the importance of unity for the country’s peace and stability.
In a recent podcast interview, President Marcos made it clear that he prefers making friends over having political adversaries, pointing out that he already has enough opponents.
The President stressed the need for everyone to get along to ensure that governance runs smoothly and efficiently.
His remarks come amid a strained relationship with the Duterte family, especially following the recent political fallout.
Vice President Sara Duterte previously distanced herself from the “UniTeam” coalition due to dissatisfaction with the current administration’s direction.
President Marcos reiterated his desire to maintain peace and national stability, saying these are vital for the country’s progress and for the administration to accomplish its work.
He added that even if there are policy differences, collaboration on programs that benefit Filipinos should be prioritized.
The President emphasized that his door remains open to cooperation and dialogue with any political faction, including the Dutertes.
He concluded by saying, “Even if we don’t agree on policy, let’s just do our jobs. Let’s remove conflict and avoid unnecessary disruption.”
(“Ewan ko. Kahit hangga’t maaari, ako, ang habol ko ay ‘yung stability, peaceful para magawa namin ‘yung trabaho namin. Kaya ako lagi nga akong bukas sa ganyan. I’m always open to any approach na, halika, magtulungan tayo. ‘Di ba? Kahit na hindi tayo magkasundo sa polisiya. Hindi tayo magkasundo. Gawin mo ‘yung trabaho pero huwag na tayong nanggugulo.Huwag na natin tanggalin natin ‘yung gulo,”)
