Pope Francis and Top Indonesian Imams Call for Unity and Peace

Pope Francis and prominent imams in Indonesia have united in a call for peace.

During the Pope’s visit to the Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta, he signed a declaration on religious harmony and environmental protection.

Accompanying him was Grand Imam Nasaruddin Umar, as they visited the “Tunnel of Friendship,” which symbolizes the unity of various religions.

The Pope is in Indonesia as part of his 11-day regional visit, where he held a mass on his final day in Jakarta. More than 80,000 people attended the mass at the main football stadium.

Following his visit to Indonesia, the Pope will proceed to Papua New Guinea, Timor-Leste, and Singapore.
