In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office VI, said Christian, Ilanga’s nephew, sought help after they were allegedly assaulted by four men earlier in Barangay Cabilao Grande.

According to Solis, Master Sergeant Ilanga immediately responded and proceeded to Barangay Bancal along with the victims to investigate the incident.

While conducting the investigation, the suspect known as alias Edcel punched the officer, causing him to fall to the ground, after which alias Edwin, 69, attacked him with a machete.

Master Sergeant Ilanga then managed to draw his service firearm and shoot alias Edwin.
