Six police officers from Police Station 4 in Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) were relieved following allegations of abuse involving a 20-year-old Criminology student.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Christian Torres, spokesperson for LCPO, confirmed that those relieved include Police Major Michael Gingoyon, the chief of Police Station 4, the station clerk, the investigator on duty, the desk officer, and two intelligence operatives.
The police personnel involved were placed on floating status, while the two intelligence operatives were disarmed and restricted from leaving the headquarters’ perimeter.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo Cebu, Torres explained that the officers were relieved to ensure that the ongoing investigation into the alleged maltreatment of the student is not disrupted.
The investigation aims to uncover the truth behind the reported incident.
