The Philippine National Police (PNP) has submitted a list of potential election areas of concern to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

According to PNP Spokesperson Police Colonel Jean Fajardo, the list will undergo validation by the joint security council.

Fajardo stated that the PNP uses four categories for validated election-related incidents, which may fall under the ‘yellow category.’

She explained that high cases of intense political rivalry and the presence of private armed groups were key parameters for inclusion in the list.

Meanwhile, COMELEC confirmed that the list will still undergo further validation.

As of now, the poll body has not declared any of the listed areas as official “areas of concern” for the upcoming 2025 midterm elections.
