The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) has issued a warning about potential debris from China’s Long March 7A rocket, which was launched on Sunday, March 30.
PhilSA cautioned that the falling debris could pose risks to maritime vessels, including ships, boats, and aircraft operating near 64 nautical miles off Dalupiri Island in Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Camiguin Norte, and Santa Ana, Cagayan.
The agency also noted that there is a possibility of the debris drifting toward nearby coastlines.
According to PhilSA, the expected rocket debris includes the booster and fairing, which could fall into Philippine waters.
While the debris is unlikely to land in residential areas, PhilSA warned that it may still pose dangers to the public as it could contain hazardous chemicals, such as rocket fuel.
The agency urged the public to avoid any recovered materials from the rocket and to immediately report any sightings of debris to local authorities.
