Philippine Army Honors Faith-Based Military Leadership at AMI Reception

The Philippine Army reaffirmed its commitment to Christian values in military service by hosting a reception dinner and cultural show for Apostolat Militaire International (AMI) delegates on September 24, 2025.

The event was held at the Headquarters Philippine Army in Fort Bonifacio as part of the AMI General Assembly and Annual Conference hosted by the Philippines.

AMI President, Retired Vice Admiral Mattheiu Borsboom of the Royal Netherlands Navy, emphasized the importance of interfaith military practices rooted in the Philippine context of External Security Operations.

Speaking on behalf of Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete, Army Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Ronald Jess S. Alcudia highlighted how Christian morals guide the Army’s role in nation-building.

He remarked that leadership grounded in faith is one that heals, protects, and uplifts both in combat and in everyday life.

AMI is a global lay organization founded in 1965 by Catholic soldiers aiming to promote Christian values in armed forces worldwide.

The Philippines became a full member of AMI in 1992 and is the host of this year’s conference held from September 20 to 26, 2025 in Quezon City.

This year’s theme, “AMI @60 in the 2025 Jubilee Year,” focuses on strengthening Christian values in the military through biblical leadership, bridge-building, and resilience.
