Philippine Air Force Aids in Containing Massive Fire in Manila’s Tondo Area

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) deployed a helicopter on Saturday to help extinguish a large fire in Aroma, Tondo, Manila.

The chopper was used for a “bucket approach,” pouring water directly onto the center of the blaze, while a water shower was conducted on areas yet to be reached by the flames.

It was reported that hundreds of homes in the residential area, along with two large buildings—Bldg 27 and Bldg 23—were damaged by the fire.

The first alarm was raised at 11:44 AM, followed by the second alarm a minute later. The third alarm was declared at 11:56 AM, and by 12:13 PM, the fire had escalated to the fourth alarm. Just seconds later, the fifth alarm was announced.

By 12:24 PM, Task Force Alpha was declared, and at 1:33 PM, Task Force Bravo was raised.

Authorities are set to conduct an investigation to determine the cause and spread of the fire in the affected area.
