The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that the Philippine government is currently investigating alleged foreign espionage activities within the country.

This follows a documentary’s revelation of a suspected Chinese spy network, which includes former Mayor Alice Guo, reportedly operating in various countries.

DFA Secretary Enrique Manalo stated that the government, in coordination with other agencies, is actively investigating reports of foreign spies entering the Philippines.

However, Manalo did not disclose further details regarding the ongoing investigation.

He also noted that the Chinese government has not yet reached out to the DFA, and he is unaware if they have contacted any other government agencies.

Manalo assured the public that the issue of espionage will be raised when the Philippines and China meet at the ASEAN Summit in Laos next week.
