Persons of Interest Identified in Shooting of Mayoral Bet Kerwin Espinosa

Authorities have identified persons of interest in the shooting of mayoral candidate Kerwin Espinosa in Albuera, Leyte on Thursday, April 11.

This was confirmed by the Police Regional Office 8 (PRO 8), though they withheld further details on the suspects for the time being.

According to PRO 8 public information officer Police Major Analiza Armeza, the Albuera Municipal Police Station, along with SWAT, immediately launched a hot pursuit operation against the suspects.

She added that Espinosa is in stable condition, along with the other injured victims, including vice mayoral candidate Mariel Espinosa Marinay and a minor.

Espinosa has since been discharged from the hospital.

The shooting incident took place while Espinosa was campaigning in Barangay Tinag-an, Albuera at around 4:30 PM on Thursday, April 10.

Espinosa sustained a gunshot wound to his right shoulder during the attack.
