PDEA Destroys Confiscated Items from Cauayan City Shabu Laboratory

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Regional Office 2 has destroyed non-drug items seized from a shabu laboratory in Cauayan City.

The laboratory was discovered during a raid on October 23, 2016, where two Chinese nationals, Kim Punzalan Uy, also known as Atong Uy, and Alias Lo Chi, were killed after resisting arrest.

According to John Kenneth Sangueza, Chief of Chemist at PDEA R02, the chemicals found at the laboratory will be sent to Valenzuela City for proper disposal at the PDEA National Headquarters.

The seized drugs were already transported to the PDEA National Headquarters and were destroyed on September 12, 2024, with the Certificate of Destruction still pending.

Authorities confiscated 1,600 kilograms of solid chemicals, 7,700 liters of liquid chemicals, and 158 pieces of equipment from the site.

PDEA had to hire junk shop workers to help destroy the large equipment found in the laboratory.
