According to Ensign Myles John Palisoc of PCG Batanes, they spotted Dejillo’s boat during their patrol.

Upon approaching, they found the fisherman too weak to speak and immediately provided him with water before rushing him to the hospital.

Dejillo recounted that his boat had run out of fuel, leaving him stranded at sea.

He survived by drinking rainwater, coconut water, and eating fish. His family had reported him missing on August 4.
