Three dams in Luzon had some gates open on Tuesday to release water, a day after Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-Yi) left the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The PAGASA Hydro-Meteorology Division named these dams Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat.
Five of the eight gates that were opened on Monday at Ambuklao Dam in Benguet were still open at 2.5 cm at 8 a.m.
At 8 a.m., the reservoir’s water level was 751.72 meters, getting close to the 752-meter overflowing level.
On Tuesday morning, six gates of Binga Dam in Benguet were open at a height of three meters. However, six gates were open at 7.5 meters on Monday as well.
At 8 a.m., the reservoir’s water level at Binga Dam was 575 meters on the overflowing level, which is Tuesday.
Meanwhile, four gates of the Magat Dam, which spans Isabela and Ifugao, were open Tuesday morning at a height of 7.0 meters. On Monday, only three gates were available.
The reservoir water level of Magat Dam was 191.20 meters on Tuesday, getting close to the 193-meter overflowing level.
Much of Ilagan City, Isabela, was inundated by the water discharged by Magat Dam and the intense rains caused by Typhoon Pepito.
A report said that only the roofs of houses were still visible.
Over 800 homes were inundated.
However, on Tuesday, the gates of Pangasinan and Benguet’s San Roque Dam were closed. At 11 a.m. on Monday, it shut down one gate.
