P9 Million Worth of Marijuana Plants Destroyed by Authorities in Cordillera

Authorities have destroyed over nine million pesos worth of marijuana plants in a series of operations across Kalinga, Benguet, and Ifugao provinces.

The Kalinga Police Provincial Office, Regional Mobile Force Battalion 15, and PDEA-Kalinga recovered 41,750 marijuana plants worth P8,350,000 in Barangays Bugnay, Loccong, Butbut Proper, Ngibat in Tinglayan, and Barangay China in Rizal, Kalinga.

In Benguet, the Bakun Municipal Police Station, Kibungan police station, and various regional law enforcement units, including PDEA-CAR, burned 3,800 marijuana plants valued at P760,000 in Barangays Tacadang and Palina in Kibungan, and Barangay Kayapa in Bakun, Benguet.

Meanwhile, the Banaue Police Station, Ifugao Provincial Police Office, and PDEA-Ifugao seized 10 marijuana plants worth P2,000 during an eradication operation in Barangay Viewpoint, Banaue, Ifugao.

Police investigations are ongoing to identify other marijuana plantations in nearby areas and apprehend individuals responsible for cultivating the plants.
