Over P1.3M Worth of Shabu Seized in South Cotabato; Suspects Face Charges

Two men were arrested in Banga, South Cotabato, during an anti-drug buy-bust operation that seized shabu worth over P1.3 million.

Police Lieutenant Adelyn Lazaga, the Public Information Officer of Banga PNP, confirmed the operation in an interview.

The suspects, identified as “Bobong,” 42, and “Maxim,” 53, are unemployed residents of Barangay Improgo, Banga.

Authorities said the two suspects were caught selling shabu to an undercover operative acting as a buyer.

Seized during the operation were 40 large sachets of shabu weighing 205 grams, valued at P1,375,000.

Police also recovered the buy-bust money amounting to P1,000 and an additional P14,000 in boodle money.

Lazaga revealed that both suspects were former drug users who had undergone rehabilitation but returned to illegal activities.

Drug tests conducted on the suspects confirmed that they were using illegal drugs at the time of their arrest.

The suspects now face charges under Sections 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Police Lt. Lazaga emphasized the police force’s continued efforts to combat illegal drugs and educate the public on its negative effects.
