More than 1,007 individuals, including passengers, crew, and cargo staff, were stranded across eight ports nationwide on Monday evening, according to the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA).

The disruption came as Super Typhoon Uwan battered the country, prompting authorities to raise Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 in most regions and suspend all sea travel in affected areas.
Between midnight and 4:00 a.m. Monday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) recorded 3,161 rolling cargoes, 83 vessels, and 22 motorbancas unable to sail, while 408 ships and 304 motorbancas sought temporary shelter in various ports.
Based on PPA’s 6:00 p.m. update, stranded passengers were reported in PMO NCR North (108), PMO Bicol (108), PMO Panay/Guimaras (70), PMO Negros Oriental/Siquijor (2), PMO Agusan (42), PMO Misamis Oriental/CDO (128), and PMO Misamis Occidental/Ozamiz (194).
The highest number of stranded passengers was recorded at PMO Batangas, with 355 individuals.
PPA reminded the public to coordinate with concerned shipping lines before heading to ports to avoid inconvenience amid the ongoing typhoon disruptions.
