A 15-year-old girl in Barangay Hagdan, Oslob City, died on December 13, 2024, just a day after reporting an alleged gang rape to the police.

According to Police Major Jude Cebrero, chief of the Oslob Police Station, the victim and her mother sought help on December 12, stating she was allegedly molested on December 9 during their town fiesta.

The Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) at the police station interviewed the mother and daughter, documenting the victim’s account of the incident.

The 15-year-old explained that she met a group of men who gave her beer that seemed to be laced with something, causing her body to weaken, after which she was taken to an unknown location.

Accompanied by a policewoman, the victim revisited the location where the alleged rape occurred.

After inspecting the site, they returned to the police station, where the WCPD explained the legal process, including a medical examination in a “pink room,” to the victim and her mother.

The victim requested to postpone the medical examination.

The WCPD attempted to persuade her, but the girl was visibly shaken and unresponsive.

They were sent home and told to return to the station on the 13th for the medical examination.

Tragically, the victim passed away unexpectedly on the afternoon of the same day.

The Regional Forensic Unit of the Police Regional Office conducted an autopsy and collected specimens sent to Camp Crame for histo-pathological and toxicological examinations to determine the exact cause of death.

Police are reviewing CCTV footage to understand the events and identify the men involved.

Cebrero stated that the victim initially mentioned being attacked by approximately 13 men, though she wasn’t certain of the exact number.

Authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and avoid spreading misinformation or speculation.
